If this is your first snow adventure, get ready for a frosty thrill! To make sure you’re warm, cozy, and ready for action, here are some fun tips to help you gear up for a day in the snow!
CLOTHING Tips
Snow days don’t have to break the bank, but they do require some smart layering! Avoid the too-many-or-too-few layers dilemma with these tips:
Head, Neck, and Hands: Keep your noggin toasty with a warm woolen hat. Balaclavas are a win—they warm both your head and neck and fit nicely under helmets. Scarves are okay, but neck warmers or gaiters are less bulky and just as effective. Go for waterproof gloves or mittens with liners for little ones to keep those fingers snug!
Upper Body: Layer up with at least two base layers of woolen thermals. Add a cozy fleece top and a windproof, thermally lined jacket. Feeling warm? Shed a layer and keep comfy!
Lower Body: Avoid a soggy seat by wearing at least two layers, including a waterproof outer layer. Think woolen long johns, fleece pants, and waterproof ski or snowboard pants. Jeans? Not the best choice for snow play!
Feet: Keep those toes toasty with waterproof and warm footwear. Snow boots are ideal, but if you’re using hiking boots, make sure you’ve got woolen inserts or thick woolen socks. Extra socks are a great idea! Gumboots won’t keep you warm, so save them for the beach!
Eyes: Shield your peepers with UV sunglasses or ski goggles to protect against snow glare. They’re a must to avoid those snow-blind days!
Sunscreen: Yep, you can get sunburned on the slopes! Slather on some sunscreen to avoid a panda look when you’re back at work or school.
Now you’re all set for a snow-filled adventure! Have a blast out there! ❄️🏂⛷️
